Laundry Room Maintenance Tips
Washing Machine
- Don't spray pre-wash stain removers onto clothes on top of washer; they can corrode painted and plastic parts.
- Change in-line water filters annually to ensure an unrestricted flow of water to your washer. Remember, there is a filter at both the hot and cold water inlets, just inside the intake ports where the supply connectors attach.
- Inspect supply hoses and drain hose. Replace if creased, crimped or bulging.
- Replace rubber water-supply hoses if they're splitting, cracking or are losing flexibility (or abotu every 4 years).
Clothes Dryers
- Disconnect the exhaust duct from the back of the dryer and remove accumulated lint every quarter.
- Vacuum lint from the dryer heater box. To get to this area, remove the access panel. Always unplug the machine or shut down the gas connection before you remove the panel.
